Publisher Description
The abandoned resort was supposed to save them.
Instead, it trapped them.
Mac and Erika have nowhere left to go.
When they discover Barren Cape—a half-built luxury resort abandoned to concrete, wire fences and weeds—it feels like the perfect refuge. Hidden from the world and forgotten by everyone else, it's somewhere they can disappear.
At first.
But Barren Cape isn't as empty as it seems.
As more people arrive, tensions begin to rise. Resources are scarce. Trust is in short supply. And when strange events start to unfold, Mac realizes that someone is hiding dangerous secrets behind the resort's crumbling walls.
What began as a sanctuary is becoming something far more threatening.
Because when people are pushed to the edge, survival comes at a price. And at Barren Cape, some will do anything to protect what they've found.
From the bestselling author of The Rush comes a chilling, unputdownable thriller about desperation, survival, and the terrifying choices people make when they have nothing left to lose.
'Prak's books keep you reading long into the night' — Vikki Petraitis

Customer Reviews
Excellent
This was a story of twists & turns, the unexpected & fast moving going from each chapter according to the characters. It was a little confusing at times but the momentum just kept going. Excellent suspenseful read.
Profound, insightful, gripping
As a person who also grew up in a Housing Trust house in Adelaide but had a relatively stable home until domestic violence forced my mother and I to leave when I was 16, I can relate to much of this tale. Now with 30yo sons struggling to find rental accommodation, I look back and acknowledge how lucky I was moving and working all around Australia and never having that problem. Good on you Michelle for highlighting this issue.
