As Important as it is Well-Written Canon!
Batman: Year One’s become one of THE Batman stories the movies, tv shows, games and even mainline comics have come to revere as one of The Dark Knight’s defining moments in his now 80-plus-years of history.
Some of Batman’s most influential stories told on the screen have referred to Year One in SOME kind of capacity, be it Batman Begins, The Batman (the 2022 movie), Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and the video game Batman: Arkham Origins. Even other stories not focusing on Batman’s origins specifically have implemented Frank Miller’s versions of the Waynes’ deaths, right down to the pearl necklace.
Sure this book hasn’t had a direct 1-1 adaptation for the cinema, but it’s been leveraged enough times for strong Batman films that it still stands comfortably as it’s own unique take on a character that appeals to non-comic-cook fans too, at least for this book.
