Publisher Description
Herb and Helen Haydock began their collecting of beer advertising memorabilia in 1951 while Herb was stationed with the US Air Force in Munich, Germany. He purchased eight beer glasses, and little did he know that the small purchase would lead him and his wife to having the largest private collection of beer memorabilia in the world.
In 1992, their collection became the American Museum of Brewing History and Arts located in the Oldenberg Brewery and Entertainment Complex in Fort Mitchell, Kentucky. In 1996, the collection was purchased by the Miller Brewing Company, who planned to display it in Milwaukee. Those plans never materialized, but the collection was still used in several different ways.
In this fascinating book, Beer Advertising Memorabilia, the Haydocks share their advertising collection. Beautiful full-color photography makes the collection come to life. Each section (Beer Containers, Beer Labels, Drinking Vessels, Tap Markers and Knobs, etc.) contains examples from the 1880's to 1920 and 1933 to 2002. Each photo is captioned with description, size, and value.
This title is a must have for anyone who is interested in advertising collectibles and essential to the library of any fan of Breweriana. Indexed.
