The first book in Adam Hamdy’s Scott Pearce series is a seriously fast-paced thriller with weighty themes. A former British intelligence officer, Scott is hiding away on a remote Thai beach when the suspicious death of a friend pulls him back to the UK and thrusts him headlong into a violent political conspiracy. Hamdy intentionally takes us to uncomfortable places, creating almost unbearable tension in the process. An engrossing story about the way extremism divides and manipulates both the powerful and the powerless.
