‘Blasts from the Past’ is a series of articles from the author's perspective on life. They depict events which took a little time to play out but were to change the way people lived their lives through work and leisure. A ‘blast’ is a strong puff or gust of wind which has the effect of completely altering the landscape. These 'blasts' also altered landscapes - the social, the political, even the scientific.
