Power Games
I found this book more frustrating than the first in the series. Adrien flounders around, looking for answers and solutions, and none of the friends who have an understanding about certain issues that come with immortality, seem able to help him or are reluctant to. Adrien learns snippets but not enough to really help. Perhaps the answer is that Adrien has to work it all out for himself; only then will he attain his true strength.
I did feel that the writing was choppy, it didn’t flow with a natural ease that has you racing through the book where you just get lost in the story. I felt frustrated at times, but maybe that was because of the amount of jumping here and there that Adrien was doing.
The story is still good, the idea of the truce between vampires and hunters, once in accord, is now now being disrupted and is in chaos due to the vampire hunter, Pelletier, being obsessed with power. I have no doubt that Adrien will find a way to correct the wrongs and find a way back to his beloved Nicolas.
