Hope, Healing, Love.
I loved all of these stories in this box set. Jason and Jules, Cary and Antonio, Aiden and Sam, David and Alex, Roger and John and Cam and Galen. Each of these couples had to go through some pain and soul searching to get their HEA but I think I had an appreciation and sadness for Roger and John’s bitter sweet story. All of the men had to overcome the consequences of the hurt they had experienced in their past but with Roger and John, it was slightly different. They experienced what life was like as they entered their teens in the 70’s and then in the 80’s when homosexuality was taboo. Added to that, Roger’s parents kept trying to make Roger into someone other than who he was, what he wanted and what career path he should take. But through all the years they loved each other and eventually, they were able to be together.
Chronologically, Roger and John’s story would have been the first book in the series. Ms Anthony must have had a reason to make it the sixth; perhaps it wouldn’t have had the same impact if it had been the first to be read.
And then came Cam and Galen. Cam learned so much of himself with Galen’s help, which also explains why he did what he did to make Aiden leave him. I loved Cam’s journey of self discovery and consequently, self worth.
All of the books are well worth reading, showing that you have to have hope, there must be healing which then frees you up for love.
