Boggle the Gymboot Bird

I enjoy reading stories to children when I baby-sit and am always on the lookout for something new and different that's reasonably substantial in what it has to say, rather than just being entertaining, with good pictures. ‘Boggle the Gymboot Bird’ fits the bill and is a lovely book. The front cover is delightful, as are the photos and the many colour illustrations. The well-chosen font and excellent layout also make the book easy to read, for both the child and me. While we read, we can talk about the important messages in the story, which are to do with trying hard to overcome difficulties, giving and receiving help, appreciating the help when it’s given, and generally being kind. The information about Australian animals also makes the book a great educational tool, particularly since it has enough humour to keep things lively.
