Publisher Description
I’m still only a barber to the supernatural, and I still have super weak magic, but I’ve somehow been tasked with essentially preventing war between humans and the Mayak supernatural.
Yeah, I know, you couldn’t find a person less qualified for the job. I have no clout with the former, and the latter consider me as little more than slightly smart cattle. Oh, and the closest thing I have to an assistant is a sarcastic, pain-in-the-ass cat who's no help whatsoever.
If I don’t deliver, it’s my neck on the line. And so far it’s not going so well, especially when it turns out some humans have figured a way to enter hidden Mayak spaces.
In short I'm up the proverbial creek and lacking the proverbial paddle.
Grab Bound by Silver to find out if I manage to produce that pesky paddle and live to shave another day.
Please note that this is book 2 of a continuous series. The author recommends that you start with book 1, Touched by Magic.
Customer Reviews
This is a fantastic fantasy story!
Set in contemporary times and on a fictional island called Panong, which is near Hong Kong, the story features the truly magical beings of the Mayak and the Touched, those with only one or limited magical ability. Abiyo is one of the Touched and her ability is very weak. She was born in Panong but adopted as an infant and raised by a British couple. She works for a Mayak and is a skilled barber, her clientele includes both Mayak and the Touched, although the Mayak are generally very condescending, to the inferior Touched. One day, the unexpected happens and she is tasked with caring for and transporting, the unhatched egg of a Pari-Pari couple. Pari-Pari are the Asian version of dryads, and although Mayak, they are pacifists and vulnerable to stronger magical powers. Abiyo tries to carry out their request but powerful beings are after the egg and she is considered just a useless, weak object in their way.
The story features a wonderful world with great characters and contains consistent humour and snark as well as intrigue, drama and mystery.
