Miggy Perez's life has been going pretty good. She's finishing her third year of school, her two best friends are in love, and she's found contentment in her Dharma. But when a letter from the Department of Corrections arrives, Miggy's Middle Path swerves off to the sides. Her mother made parole and she's coming home.

The past awakens for Miggy and so does her anger. Not only does she have to deal with her mother but also her mother's boyfriend Roberto Cepeta, who went to prison with her, but also Roberto's daughter who recently beat the crap out of Miggy and her best friend: Zenny Cepeta.
