I have never written a book review before however after reading this riveting account of life in Russia during the Stalin regime I felt the urge to say something. Born and living in Australia all my 70 years its hard to believe that people had to endure such hardships but still had the fortitude to believe in the truth and that there is always a better place in the end. I look forward to reading the sequel.
Utterly compelling!
I will be reflecting on the horrors of Stalins Russia on its people, culture and humanity for a long time.
Excellent read
Had to read this book in one good. Hard to stop and take a breath. The plot was so good. To see the main character growing from a soviet 'machine' to a human with emotion is absolutely remarkable.
