Christmas Down Under

There’s nothing so silly as Christmas with snow. In Maree Birch’s 1986 picture book, Santa leaves his red suit at home, swaps his sled at the South Pole for a surfboard and his kangas, slips in through open windows on a hot, steamy Christmas Eve, and roars off in the summertime thunder. A rhyming story of Christmas the way it happens in Australia, with Maree’s own pictures restored from the original art for the book’s 40th anniversary.
