Cleopatra

Jacob Abbott (November 14, 1803 – October 31, 1879) was an American writer, born in Hallowell, Maine. He was a prolific author, writing juvenile fiction, brief histories, biographies, religious books for the general reader, and a few works in popular science.

Not surprisingly, Abbott’s biographies of Ancient figures included Cleopatra, the most famous woman in history. Abbott’s biography covers the entire life of Cleopatra, including her Ptolemaic lineage, her relationships with Caesar and Antony, her struggle to keep Egypt independent of Rome, and her famous demise.
