The ancient laws state that if he is given a vow of love by the one he kissed, he will be able to keep his legs. If not, he will be put to death when he returns to the water.
But love is not something Leigh offers easily… and Tolly has a secret of his own.

A perfectly lovely tail.
This is the first book of Ms Meuwissen’s that I’ve read. And it won’t be the last.
I loved this urban land and water fantasy tale. It was a perfect mixture of both. And having just previously read a book that was disappointing, this one delivered in spades. It was well written with no grammatical errors that I could discern, the world building was good and I was able to picture the environment that Leigh lived in; a slightly run down area with boarded up and empty shops, but with many decent people with kindness in their hearts.
I loved Tolly, a mix of fey, gentleness but with a strength to deliver retribution when needed. And I loved Leigh and Tolly’s story and the love that they shared. Finally, Tolly’s description of the simple life that Tolly wants with Leigh is perfect. After all, when you have all this things that Tolly wants, life is perfect.
