Credlin was Abbott’s enforcer, his disciplinarian, his counsellor, his brain, his mother. Her strength as a chief of staff was a sign of his weakness as a prime minister: she gave him the option of disengaging. Credlin allowed Abbott to be who he wanted to be: the good bloke, the philosopher, the weekend fire-fighter, the surfer, the orator, the man of action. If Abbott was a natural leader, it could have worked. But he lacked the most important attribute of all: judgement.

Tony Abbott and his chief of staff, Peta Credlin, ran a brilliant campaign in opposition. But their approach led to disaster in government.

When Abbott became prime minister, he and Credlin ruthlessly controlled ministers, backbenchers, the public service and the media. They shut out voices that questioned Abbott’s way. Everything started to unravel.

Credlin & Co. is the story of a relationship that determined the fate of a government. It shows in stunning detail the disastrous consequences of power abused, and the broken people left in its wake.

Credlin & Co.

This is a remarkable record of the swiftly changing tide of Australian politics in recent times. It is well researched and a great read. Highly recommend!

Mel Gibson not ,

Stunning unbiased factual account of Abbotts self inflicted fall.

Amazing story.
So many great sources. Factual and professional contributors.

No more security scare campaigns. No more being treated like we are idiots.....we stopped the boats....we stopped the mining tax...we fixed the budget.....we reduced red tape.....we stopped waste........Abbott treated us all like we were idiots.

No more poor leadership decisions or poor judgement calls that made us embarrassed to be Australian......coal is good, sir prince husband of queen Phillip, the ironing, family budgets in better shape, women in cabinet, gay marriage is a right in Australia, chopper gate, entitlements, invading Iraq, more and more submarines from a company that couldn't build a canoe, leaking to news limited,
A thoroughly negative view of Australia from a middle aged white man, steeped in thoughts of virginity being the greatest gift. Continually having a fear campaign about minority groups in Australia, taking away citizenship, falling to fire his chief of staff when everyone advised him to fire her. Scared to introduce tax reform. Scared to introduce superannuation reform that only benefits the wealthy, sticking with an unfair PPL that benefited the wealthy and professional classes only.......A cabinet full of old or middle aged white guys from the Howard era.Centralising power and enjoying it.

Where is all the infrastructure that was promised.?....?
Wishing TA and PC all,the best for the future out of politics and serving the nation in other ways. Thanking them for trying ......trying to maintain power instead of improving the economy and social living conditions of Australians.

We now have a modern acting and modern leading PM in Malcolm Turnbull. A positive leader. A successful businessman and positive leader.

We will overcome the unrepresentative swill in the upper house. They need to be fired.

Must read historical book/ document. Composed with thought and care. Balanced and reasonable in all directions.
