And I'm not even all that mad about it.
I've got a crush on my best friend's sister.
No, we're not five.
Though with the way we argue, it's debatable.
Half the time I don't like her.
She always says the wrong thing.
But I've got a soft spot for her and her little boy.
Yeah, me. One of the toughest defense attorneys in the city.
I never lose.
This might be a first.

Simply wonderful. Another wonderful book by Grahame Claire who are a fantastic writing duo and cannot write a bad book in my eyes. Book 3 has us reading Marlow and Patrick’s story. We get glimpses of them in previous books but wow the chemistry between these 2 is hot and they are so well suited. Both have known heartbreak. Patrick is so divine and Marlow is so brash but underneath is someone you just want to hug plus add in a gorgeous little boy and you have a wonderful story that you cannot put down. Another five star read by these wonderful women. By the way I so want to go to Sunday dinner with this crazy lovable family.
Grahame Clair is a new to me and I have no idea why I have not read this author before. Although book three in the 'Free' series I was able to read this without feeling lost, although I do feel you might get ,more enjoyment if you had read the previous two books first. This is Marlow and Patrick’s story which I enjoyed.
I had a bit of a hard time relating to Marlow, I can’t quite put my finger on why, but as a character I didn’t really connect with her. However Patrick, I fell for hard and fast, I really liked him and he was one of the few people who can handle Marlow. Marlow has had a hard time handling the her husband’s death and Patrick knows he cannot compete with a dead man.
This story is about grief, coming to terms with it and eventually moving on; it is a story full of hope, love and family. The journey for Marlow and Patrick is at times emotional and I loved the relationship that Patrick has with Marlow’s son, Blake, it was heartwarming.
Emotional heartfelt story
4.5 Stars for Defend Me ( Free #3)
This is the first book I have read by Grahame Claire but it certainly won’t be the last, I’m also prove that this book can be read and enjoyed as a stand-alone, that being said I will be looking at playing catch up with the previous two books as soon as time permits.
This is Marlow and Patrick’s story and boy do they have a tale to tell....
Patrick is everything you could want in a book boyfriend and I fell hook, line and sinker for him, I loved how he handled Marlow who is struggling to come to terms with her husbands death, all the time knowing competing with a dead man is a competition he may never win.
Marlow is struggling with the grief she is feeling and it’s going to take a very special man to break down her walls....is Patrick that man or will he walk away. Guess you will need to read the book to find that out.
This isn’t just a love story it’s a journey and I was happy to be along for the ride, it’s an emotional read that’s full of love, hurt, hope and family relationships. One of the wonderful things that will stay with me long after I finished this book was Patrick’s relationship with Marlow’s son Blake and I’m sure if you give this book a chance you will feel the same. Looking forward to reading more from Grahame Claire.
