Design of Reinforced Concrete Arch Highway Bridge

This thesis from 1915 discusses the use of a concrete arch for a highway bridge. The Romans originated this type of bridge. They were the first to utilize concrete in bridges and were responsible for the popularization of arches used in bridges and aqueducts. Although modern technology has brought more advanced bridge construction methods, the Roman's innovative techniques are still frequently used today.
