Changes to Sheehan's Serious Crime Unit have left him needing a new sergeant. He appoints Denise Stewart.

Despite suffering extreme misogynistic abuse in her previous posting, Stewart was instrumental in uncovering serious corruption where she worked, leading to the imprisonment of her superior and some of her previous colleagues.

Stewart has no sooner joined Sheehan's unit than she becomes victim to attacks from an unknown assailant while she spends endless hours seeking to identify the serial killer.
