Donna Summer

When LaDonna Adrian Gaines passed away on May 17th 2012, she left behind a legacy which will pass through generations to come.  To the world, she was better known as Donna Summer and as a prolific American singer and songwriter who gained worldwide appeal during the late 1970s and the prominence of disco fever.

Summer was a five-times Grammy Award winner and was credited as being the first artist to have three consecutive double albums to reach the number one spot on the Billboard chart in the United States.  Her success also included four of her singles reaching number one in the US within a 13-month period.
