He swore he'd never tell anyone about his ghosts.
And then he found a woman with deadlier secrets than his.
Firefighter Ian Gamble has a past he’d rather forget—which is exactly what he’s doing when the bar he’s in catches fire. But this is no accident, and the hot, headstrong bar manager he saves from the blaze knows more than she’s saying.
Kennedy Matthews will do anything to protect her brother.
Even team up with a sharp-eyed, hard-bodied, inked-up firefighter to catch the arsonist threatening them all.
Gamble saved her bar, but now he wants more.
He wants answers.
He wants her.
Can Kennedy protect her heart against the brooding former Marine with a haunting past and his own dangerous secrets?
Or will she and Gamble go down in flames?
Down Deep is a pulse-pounding, sizzling hot standalone romantic suspense. It features a rough, gruff hero and a fierce-as-hell heroine facing off to protect what they love most in order to get to a sexy, steamy HEA.
Customer Reviews
I really liked it
I was pleasantly surprised by this book, as it is a new author to me. The writing was clever and interesting and hot. There was plenty of backstory and dialogue and I loved all of the minor characters. The two protagonists were interesting and I liked their story.
Loved it.
Can you hear that noise? It’s the 5-alarm warning that your next must-read book is here and ready to burn up your ereader.
Are you ready to go deep and fall hard for two of my favourite characters ever? I’m not kidding, I LOVED Gamble and Kennedy. These two hard as nails characters stole my heart completely and I’m more than happy to have it happen.
I’ve been waiting for what felt like forever to read this story. I knew going in I had high expectations, but the author totally went above and beyond them and left me breathless more than once while I devoured this book. (Okay, I’ve totally read it more than once since I got it, I can’t help it I loved it so much)
The title of this book is perfect because both these characters are complicated and have buried a lot down deep just to get through life. Its only the other who can break those barriers and get through to the real person below and when that happens, all bets are off.
I loved Kennedy, she is tough but with a heart of gold that’s a little dented due to her upbringing, but she’s the one you would want in your corner every single time. I loved that she is so fierce and would do anything for her baby brother or those close to her. Gamble never had chance and I love that.
As for Gamble, OMG!!! I’m trying to be really good here and not turn this whole review into a love note to him, but it’s killing me. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED him. The big oaf with a soft side that you don’t expect and excuse me while I just hand over my panties and heart right now. I will no longer need either. Yes, he’s that good.
Put him head to head with a heroine like Kennedy and not only will get a formidable pairing, but off the charts chemistry, heat and more heart and heartbreak than you expected but will not be sorry for one little bit. Fair warning, you will need tissues for this read. And okay maybe a new pair of panties too because they are HOT, HOT, HOT.
It’s not just all about the smoking hot chemistry between Gamble and Kennedy though, there is villain who is seriously just pure evil and who makes my skin crawl just thinking about him, threats to someone close to Kennedy and more than enough suspense to keep you glued to the pages. I’m not going to give anything away, you need to read it.
It should be said that this book is part of series, but you can absolutely read it as a stand-alone. But that said, I highly recommend that this is a series you need to read. It’s addictive.
Thank you Kimberly Kincaid for taking me on a ride I won’t be forgetting soon and for Gamble and Kennedy’s HEA, it’s perfect.
