History versus Fiction Issues
A decent enough tale but IMHO the flow of it suffers from the author never quite coming to grips with his desire to reflect his interest as an amateur historian and his interest as a writer. As a result many of the characters are less developed than one would expect and a coldness descends over a good deal of the entire book.
