Publisher Description
Eleanor Jones has just started at her ninth high school in less than five years. Since she and her mum are always moving on, Eleanor likes to stay on the outer, to stay invisible. So maybe it’s just bad luck that the very first person she talks to at Cooinda Secondary College, Angus Marshall, is stabbed and left for dead the same day. The last message on Angus’s phone is from Eleanor Jones.
After being interviewed by the police, Eleanor realises they don’t have all the facts and decides to investigate. In trying to understand what happened to Angus, Eleanor inadvertently becomes involved with an eclectic group of fellow students – all of whom have their own reasons to want to solve the mystery.
As they slowly unravel Angus’s secrets, Eleanor discovers the true meaning of friendship – and uncovers a danger lurking at the heart of the town . . .

A fabulous read!
With a deliciously fresh voice, amazing pace, loveable characters and humorous wit, I was enthralled. A delightfully gripping page turner! I look forward to more books from this talented author.
Not for me
I would like to start out by saying I appreciate that I am clearly not the target audience for this book.
I didn't like the writing style or the dialogue/ monologue choice. It was definitely trying to be quirky, relatable and intelligent but it was just annoying. I didn't like Elenor at ALL. She felt like such a poser and there are so many things that were just unnecessary, or didn't quite pack the punch.
For example, I guessed the killer in the first 5 pages, and there's no mention of anything related to him until the last 20 pages when he basically just randomly admits to being the killer. There's also lots of questions that weren't answered, for instance, why do her family keep moving towns so often? Where is her dad? Why can't the police do their job? Why is everyone so casual about a murder?
I felt like the book was written for 10 year olds, but the characters are aged 16-20, and so the thoughts that they have and the way they say certain things, just isn't the way any other 16-20 year old would think or speak. It felt very dumb.
And the mystery wasn't even good. I was so excited to finish this book so that I didn't have to read it anymore and I could shove it away into a deep dark pit somewhere and forget it ever existed. This book was $4 at a second hand book store, and it was $4 too much. Even free would have been too much. My hater-isis was flaring up reading this. Thank god it's over.
The book is called "Elenor Jones is not a murderer.
Literally only 1 person called her a murderer, and she's the school bully so it doesn't even count.
I’ll definitely give this author another chance on a different series, and I appreciate that this is her first novel, but it just wasn’t meeting my expectations. Sorry :(
