Fall Fall

Publisher Description

The first time I met Jax Blackwood things went a little sideways.

In my defense, I didn’t know he was Jax Blackwood—who expects a legendary rock star to be shopping for groceries? More importantly, a blizzard was coming and he was about to grab the last carton of mint-chocolate chip.

Still, I might have walked away, but then he smugly dared me to try and take the coveted ice cream. So I kissed him. And distracted that mint-chip right out of his hands.

Okay, it was a dirty move, but desperate times and all that. Besides, I never expected he’d be my new neighbor.

An annoying neighbor who takes great pleasure in reminding me that I owe him ice cream but would happily accept more kisses as payment. An irresistible neighbor who keeps me up while playing guitar naked–spectacularly naked–in his living room.

Clearly, avoidance is key. Except nothing about Jax is easy to ignore—not the way he makes me laugh, or that his particular brand of darkness matches mine, or how one look from him melts me faster than butter under a hot sun.

Neither of us believes in love or forever. Yet we’re quickly becoming each other’s addiction. But we could be more. We could be everything.

All we have to do is trust enough to fall.

Fantastic and heartwarming

I wasn’t prepared for the huge feels from this book! So well written, so thoughtful in its approach to mental health and such a beautiful story.

The only thing I really couldn’t warn to was all the footnotes by the author. I ended up skipping them as it took me out of the world she had so cleverly put me in.

Very satisfying!

Callahan takes on the difficult topic of depression with a deft and sensitive hand, while maintaining romance and humour in Jax and Stella’s story. The chemistry is as hot as ever, and descriptions of Manhattan, and surrounds, and references to various art and music are highly entertaining and add to the vibrancy of the story. Recommended!

Brilliant - minus the citations

I love this author but I hated the citations with notes/thoughts/decisions. If this was a q&a that would be valid, but in the middle of the story (or at the start, because this frustrated me from page 62)? It wasn’t necessary and should’ve been saved for a newsletter or something. I did not like it at all. I did not think we needed the info, given we could join the dots as readers.
Having said that, I loved this book. I love the writing, the character differentiation, the profanity at times, the build up, the release, the subtle gender balancing (I find this hard to describe, it has masculine characters that aren’t overbearing or underhanded and the female was so strong and capable and didn’t need saving - a modern dream). It was so well written, with slight editing errors (a personal gripe) yet it was still brilliant.
