Another epic love story in the USA Today bestselling True North world!
Skye Copeland is on paid leave from her broadcasting job after accidentally drawing a wiener on the traffic map.
Let that sink in. Like it’s her fault the traffic pattern created a perfect pecker?
Skye isn’t laughing. She needs this job. And that’s the only reason she’s willing to chase down a story in her least favorite place—that hell on earth known as Vermont.
A quick trip. In and out. Much like - never mind. She can sneak into the town that once tried to break her, get the story and slide back into the good graces of her producer. Easy peasy.
But things go sideways the moment she steps over the county line. Her stepsister is running from a violent drug dealer. And the cop on the case is none other than Benito Rossi, the man who broke Skye’s teenage heart.
His dark brown eyes still tear her apart. And even as she steels herself to finally tell him off after twelve years, the old fireworks are still there.
Things are about to go boom.
Not my favourite of this series but still enjoyed it.💜
A captivating story!
I really enjoyed this book due to the sizzling chemistry of the characters and the suspense!
I liked the characters and the whole storyline had me hooked!
Skye hasn’t been back to Vermont in twelve years but since her half sister called wanting her to come for the weekend she had to go especially with 2 weeks unplanned holiday up her sleeve! Due to an unfortunate thing at work, which was rather funny!
But how will Vermont and its people be after all these years? The last thing person she wants to see is the boy who stood her up at gradprom! And especially her step dad, hes a nasty piece of work! We learn some things about what happened years ago and you get the sense that she didn’t have a good upbringing..
Needless to say there are some unspoken words and feelings to be said but some truths come out in the end and I thought maybe theres hope for them! Is there a hea for Skye and Ben?
Well read it for yourself, its an emotional story but also you come to learn who is really important in Skye’s life!
This is definitely a story that will have your heart beating fast in more ways than one!
Fireworks by Sarina Bowen
I just lovvvve this series by Sarina Bowen! Every single book in the series has proven to be a huge hit for me and Fireworks was no exception. It’s the second-chance love story for Benito and Skylar who were best friends when they were younger and both secretly in love with the other. They’ve not had any communication with each other for twelve years and Skye wouldn’t have returned back to Vermont now if it wasn’t for her kind-of sister. Her memories of and experiences in Vermont were just awful and once Benny had let her down, she had no ties or desire to return. However, Skylar’s sister is in huge trouble and this forces Skye back into Benito’s sexy arms and life where he’s more than happy to have her.
While this was ultimately a romance, it also has a sense of mystery/suspense and given that I’ve not read one of those for a while, I really loved that! I really enjoyed watching these two find their way back to each other: I did wish Skye had opened up a bit more but I also understood why she couldn’t. I found myself a little frustrated with the fact that Skylar didn’t question what happened all those years ago when Benny let her down and the addition of the drama involving a certain character that I really could have done without brings me to the reason I’m giving this book 4 stars instead of the usual 5. Having said that, I still thoroughly enjoyed this book and Benito is just swoon-worthy!
*I voluntarily read an early copy of this book.
