First Contacts
By Renee Allegretto and Stephanie Duffy
Publisher Description
Approximately five hundred years ago, groups of people rarely came into contact with people from other countries. The Australian Aboriginal people lived within Australia for thousands of years before communicating with other cultures. A specific group of Aboriginal people was the Yolngu People. They were from Arnhem Land, which is the most northern point of the Northern Territory. One of the first interactions that the Aboriginal people had was with the Torres Strait Islander people. The Torres Strait is a group of islands directly north of Australia.
