Tutu wearing hurricanes, bikes and books. And love with a side dish of danger.
Deacon, trying to escape from his shady past for the sake of his niece, who he now has custody of, lands up in Half Moon Bay, where he can give Zig the stability she needs after the bad start in life that she’s already experienced.
Deacon and Lang meet when the hurricane that is Zig rushes into Lang’s bookstore and in her take-no-prisoners attitude, finds the books she wants, negotiating a deal with Deacon so that she can eventually own all the books in the box set that Lang offers her.
Something good happens and the three of them seem to fit, along with Fafhrd and Mouse.
Trouble is, trouble had followed Deacon and Zig to Half Moon Bay.
Loved this story. Loved the three main characters, especially Deacon, who is doing the best he can in the parenting department, especially as he’s never been a parent and especially not to a swearing, ball of energy, with attitude, that is the eight year old Zig.
Loved the reference to Psycho Cop, one of the books that Deacon was reading.
