On the eve of their German tour, the lead singer of The Gestapop vanishes, erasing the band from history and leaving a withering absence and an abyssal mystery in the lives of Jesus F and Poppy Bliss.

During this backdrop of cultural tension and nuclear war paranoia, Milton Decosta enters the story to reconnect with his daughter. Thus follows a struggle against the demons in his past, the ongoing prejudice and hostility of the present and the indifference of a superficial future.

In the novel's closing counterpoint, Zoe, the cloakroom attendant from Club Zazous, takes the glass collector, Winston, on a hyperreal road movie, where they chase endless motorways and pursue discos, raves and liminal zones; beyond the rules of time, space and perception.
