A great read
5 star review Going Down Fast (Billionaire Bad Boys #2) by Carly Phillips
Carly Phillips is a new author to me and be assured I will be checking out her other books. What’s a woman to do when her world comes crashing down around her? That’s the situation Maxie Sullivan faces when tragedy strikes, who can she turn too? Instinctively she knows it can only be one man, the man she has always secretly been in love with, Lucas Monroe.
Lucas has always been in love with Maxi, but due to interference, she is the one woman he cannot have, the one woman who is off limits. When circumstances change and Maxie’s life is thrown into turmoil, she has no choice but to ask Lucas for help.
Will Maxie and Lucas be able to overcome their past, can they trust enough in their love to make a life together, or will the past come back to haunt and destroy them? Lucas will do whatever it takes to keep Maxie safe and I will admit I really fell for him.
I have to say I listened to this book on audible and thoroughly loved it. The story was well written and certainly an emotional roller-coaster, which touched on several issues that have affected me personally.
I admire the way Ms. Phillips is not afraid to include the realities of life. In Going Down Fast she tackles the issue of bullying both in school and college and the repercussions that can and sadly often does occur with great compassion.
Cannot wait for book number three in the series. I have no idea why it has taken me so long to Carly Phillips, but I am now going to bump her other books up my extremely long list of TBR’s.
