The story of Going to the Mainland takes Pineapple Sam to places he had never been and keeps him learning a little something knew all along the way. After losing touch with a life long friend he tries to find the family that meant so much to him all those years ago.
Throughout his travels he discovers that the prejudice that he felt at home was not only there but all over the world.
While Pineapple Sam is not a picker of fights, he certainly found himself in many situations requiring he defend himself. Experiencing danger when staying with his brother in California, Pineapple Sam decides the grass is not always greener on the other side.
