Heather was just an ordinary teenage girl growing up in Upstate Colorado. Her life revolved around her family, her horse, and the possibility of first love. That was until an eagle dropped into her life. Assisting her father in its rehabilitation after a collision with an automobile, she befriends the bird and soon learns he is much more than meets the eye. In fact, her extraordinary new friend sets the course for a series of adventures that change her life in ways she never expected.
Goldie flew overhead then came down and landed on one of the fence posts. As the girls rode by on their horses, he would squawk at them in his funny voice. Heather stopped near him and chatted briefly, but when Michelle came near, he flew off.
Michelle asked, "Does he come by often?"
"Pretty much every time I ride. Val doesn't mind him swooping at us, so she doesn't get spooked. Either he has places to go, or maybe he is afraid of you." Heather watched as Goldie glided out of sight over the trees.
"It is so weird to have a pet eagle. Who has an eagle for a pet? No one except for you, Heather."
