Publisher Description

In this provocative and eye-opening classic of investigative journalism, the #1 New York Times bestselling author, Ann Rule, explores the nearly twenty-year long search for America’s most prolific and horrifying serial killer.

On July 15, 1982, eighteen-year-old Wendy Coffield's body is found floating near the sandy shore of Washington's Green River. Authorities have no idea that this tragic and violent death is only the beginning of a string of murders that will rock and terrify the Seattle area for two decades.

With her signature riveting prose and in-depth research, Ann Rule takes us behind the scenes of the search for the Green River Killer, a terrifying specter who ritualistically killed young women and eluded authorities for years. From seeking the help of incarcerated serial killer Ted Bundy to Ann Rule’s horrifying realization that the killer she was writing about had attended her book signings, Green River, Running Red is the suspenseful and unforgettable “definitive narrative of the brutal and senseless crimes that haunted the Seattle area for decades” (Publishers Weekly).

Green River Running Red

Chilling to find that such a person managed or rather juggled so much horror against what appeared a normal life working full time, as well as keeping a wife & child, in what on the outside appeared to have a normal existence for over two decades before being caught, mostly due to the advances in forensics. More chilling is would he have ever been caught if not for determined & pain staking recording of information by many individuals involved in taskforce, as originally he seemed a most unlikely suspect.

A must read for those into true crime

Well written, and well researched, this book covered more than 20 years work with the author following the case for that whole period of time - that's dedication!
If you are after a true crime read that lays bare the reality of a serial killer while still maintaining dignity and respect for the victims, this book is definitely worth a read.
