Housekeeper is the great granddaughter of a Duke, and the Earl falls for her. What I didn't like is that she offered to be his mistress, she asked for his child and promised to make no claims on him. This is insane. A woman at that time would be forced into prostitution if he abandoned her with child, because she would get no decent work. So it makes no sense for her to offer, and guys being guys, it would reduce his desire to marry her. It's terribly stupid behaviour and I wouldn't want my daughters reading this book and thinking this is a good way to behave.
