Publisher Description
The personal account of David Hicks, and his five and a half years spent in the notorious prison, Guantanamo Bay.
In 1999 a young man from suburban Adelaide set out on an overseas trip that would change his life forever.
Initially, he was after adventure and the experience of travelling the Silk Road.
But events would set him on a different path. He would be deemed a terrorist, one of George W. Bush's 'worst of the worst'. He would be incarcerated in the world's most notorious prison, Guantanamo Bay. And in that place where, according to an interrogator in Abu Ghraib, 'even dogs won't live', he was to languish for five and a half years, suffering horror, torture and abuse, while Australians were told who he was - by politicians, the media and foreign governments.
Everyone had an opinion on him. But only he knows the truth. And now, for the first time, David Hicks tells his story.

Who words I can write will ever do Mr Hicks a justice!
Please read my review!
I watched David Hicks and followed his story whilst incapacitated the only way I knew how. The main Sydney newspaper and fox media. One of my life regrets!
David Hicks book has showed me that I only knew 1% of the story. The parts shown by the media were made to get ratings and served the purposes of others in power.
Reading this book made me cry for Mr Hicks and for my own stupidity in not getting more involved in FAIRNESS for humans.
I encourage everyone to read this book and to see what I mean.
For the record;
BEST CASE: David Hicks version is 100% true. Oh my god this guy was at the wrong place at the wrong time and has been tortured and subjected to the worst treatment by any government anywhere at any time through history.
WORST CASE:
A reasonable compromise of the US VERSION (although they have never put a reasonable series of events forward) it does matter. Because his illegal treatment and torture without trial or ANY justice system is against how we work as a society.
Howard and Bush as well as any person/s involved should be held legally accountable and should face the consequences!
Otherwise what kind of society will we have for our grandchildren?
