Good but incomplete
While I’ve spent quite a lot of time working through this book and feel like I’ve got good value from it, it jumps around haphazardly without enough explanation or examples. For example, relating scales to chords just seems to have been dropped into the book as an afterthought. There’s little information about how to put the scales into practice in a chord progression.
I missed being able to play some of the samples at half speed while I was learning them, and there’s no way to export the audio samples. This is more of a drawback with iBooks’s interface than the book’s content though.
The “40 Great Jazz Classics” are just excerpts of the songs.
While I’ve improved my playing by reading this book, it could have delivered a lot more had it been expanded and the content presented with more structure and staged delivery.
