Publisher Description
'Really, it's a very ordinary looking suitcase. You could fit quite a lot in it. Books, games, treasures, toys. But nothing is inside it now. Across the front, there is a girl's name, Hana Brady. A date of birth: May 16 1931. And Waisenkind. That's the German word for orphan.'
Where did Hana Brady come from? Where was she going? What did she pack?
What Fumiko finds in Hana's suitcase is a true story of terrible sadness and great joy.
'Such a simple little book and yet so powerful.' Sunshine Coast Sunday.
'an extraordinarily powerful book' Dianne Dempsey, The Age
Along with the original story, this anniversary edition includes updates from the author, Hana's brother, George Brady, and Fumiko Ishioka, and a sampling of the thousands of letters, tributes, artwork and photographs sent in by children touched by Hana's story.
Customer Reviews
Sad but cool
This is a sad and interesting story
Hanas suitcase
This is a amazing book that inspires me to find out more about the main characters which is Hana and George. I would hate to be in the situation that they were in because being a jew at that time during the holocaust would of been extremely hard and they would have to go through so much torcher. But it is a great book to read that makes you fill up with emotion
Hana Brady
This is one of the best books I have ever read, the words, feelings, story touched me and made me think of how lucky I am on having so much.George Brady just of gone through a lot of pain to talk to Karen about Hana.As the letters say: Her soul is now in heaven and free.Really worth reading. 10/10
