Publisher Description

Vivian’s a pretty mild-mannered person.

Even with a busload of hyperactive fourth graders going to a baseball signing, she’s patient and kind.

Even when she meets Dash Wallace…major league legend and star of her hottest daydreams…she keeps her cool.

Kind of.

Mostly.

It was fine.

Then his glove is missing and he accuses one of those fourth graders of being a thief.

You do not come after one of Vivian’s kids. She will defend them to the death..

Dash suddenly finds himself with an apology on his lips and an unexplainable attraction to a woman who’s just not his type.

But he keeps his cool.

Kind of.

Mostly.

It’s fine until the regular season, when he’s going to travel with the team.

He has rituals. Processes. Routines.

You could even call them superstitions.

They involve having a woman in every city he plays, and Vivian’s going to have to be fine with that, or he’s going to be just fine leaving her.

Kind of.

Mostly.

Not fine.

Vivian lays down the law, and Dash has to choose between her and winning.

This is my first CD Reiss read and definitely won't be my last. Dual POV (which I love) and great charcters/dialogue really drew me in. Great chemistry between the two and interesting to see a main character who wasn't pefect. Highly recommend

loved it!

4.5 stars!

Harball by C.D. Reiss was a good read for me. I really enjoyed it.

Told from both the heroine and heros POV, Hardball follows Vivian Foster, a librarian who brings the children extra apples she pays for out of her own pocket for the ones that don’t have a chance to eat before class or the children who don’t qualify for the school lunch program. Vivian cares for every student that comes into the library. The hero is three time Golden Gloves Shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Dash Wallace. Dash is extremely dedicated to his sport, its his life. Dash also has another element to him that has helped him be as great as he is but has also held him back when it comes to his life outside of his sport.

Vivian attends a field trip to a local Dodgers event when some of the star players are signing autographs. This is where she meets Dash Wallace for the first time, while trying to get his signature on a baseball, a birthday present for her father. Dash implies that Vivian has other motives for the trip and Vivian can’t believe the words that are coming out of his mouth, but since she is on the trip with her job she gets called to help with the lunches and leaves Dash with a comment that gets him thinking.

That however is the last time the pair see each other. Dash’s most prized belonging gets stolen at the event so he goes to the school library looking for Vivian to help him get it back, it has nothing to do with the fact he hasn’t been able to forget about her since that day. And that starts the twist and turns of their romance. There are so many layers to this story that make reading it so much more entertaining and enjoyable.

Vivian is only just recovering from her past relationship that made her feel like she was the boring one holding her ex back and Dash just wants a fling until he leaves for Spring Training because he doesn't do relationships. As you can imagine Vivian doesn’t want an expiration date and declines being his fling with an expiration date. Dash decides to get rid of the expiration date and see what happens, although the part of him that has helped him stay great at his sport may just be the downfall of his relationship with the one person he’s learned to care about and doesn’t want to lose.

C. D.Reiss has done an amazing job with this book. Not only did the main characters feel like they were real but so did the secondary characters. Vivian’s father was such a great aspect of this novel and he didn’t feel like a secondary character at all. You ended up wishing you got to know him more. Every secondary character had an impact to this story, not matter how little their part of the story was. Every single character was written amazingly. I could really feel the emotions of the heroine and hero and I could feel their struggle with the things that came their way. This book gave me butterflies but it also made me hold my breath when things were getting intense and emotional. I felt all the emotions throughout this story.

I highly recommend this book. C. D. Reiss has wrote a beautiful story about a sports star and a normal woman who fall in love even with the obstacles they face.
