Herstory

 Africa has a rich history of successful, inspirational women. It is important to realise that one of colonialism's long-term effects was to reduce women's place in society. We must remember the honour and respect that women had in ancient Africa. We must also, in the present day, acknowledge the vital role that women played in the liberation struggles of many African countries, even if their stories have not previously been widely told or celebrated. The modern African women are empowered to dream and to go out into the world and achieve greatness in whatever field and profession they choose to pursue. These are the stories of 21 such women.
