A new insight on an old pattern— studies of the familiar yet not familiar Chinese ideograms from a pictorial viewpoint.

Dedicated to Sir Robin Philipson and Professor James Cumming, a series of notebooks titled Hypothesis is an ongoing project initiated at Edinburgh College of Art in 1982 where I began to research on Chinese Calligraphy, western pictorial colour traditions and poetry.

Hypothesis III is the third volume of the notebook series. They have been self published in limited editions using Apple printing service and later Mimeo when Apple ceased to offer printing facilities.
This digital edition is published in Hong Kong via Apple Book for free reading , though not yet available for readers in Hong Kong, China.
