Mandala is literally translated to the word “circle” in Sanskrit. The mandala has come to reflect the spiritual journey within an individual viewer. Jungian Psychology points to the form as a symbol representative of the effort to unify oneself. The goal is for the viewer to use the mandala to center their minds and their bodies through meditation, the removal of irritating thoughts, the enabling of unrestricted creativity, and relaxation. More often than not, these goals are achieved since mandalas possess a unique, circular, concentric visual aid that draws in human consciousness and awareness.
