Do your research. I learnt the hard way. This week (end Sept 2018) I brought an iMac 21” 4K. Got it home to realise it’s a 2017 model. Great, it’s already a year and some old by the time it hits my desk. Came with 8GB RAM. This has never been a problem as I’ve always up’d the RAM in my previous 4 iMac's easily enough. Would’nt you know it, the 2017 iMac 21" 4K is the only iMac that you can’t up the RAM unless you have a spare 4 hours and REALLY know what you’re doing - the entire machine has to be taken apart bit by bit - so Apple Service job only. To be honest, the Retina screen is spectacular - very. Speed, i find it similar to my trusty old 2006 iMac that I retired because of the need for speed. Failed again. There has been a lot of disappoint in Apple this past year. Don’t get me started on my 3rd iPhone 7 due to crazy faults and call drop outs or my 1200 buck stainless steel 42mm Apple Watch that just fell apart due to an expanded battery which Apple refuse to fix….
