Publisher Description
#1 New York Times Bestseller. For more than a year, Christopher Darden argued tirelessly for the prosecution, giving voice to the victims in the 0.J. Simpson murder trial.
In Contempt is an unflinching look at what the television cameras could not show: behind-the-scenes meetings, the deteriorating relationships between the defense and prosecution teams, the taunting, baiting, and pushing matches between Darden and Simpson, the intimate relationship between Darden and Marcia Clark, and the candid factors behind Darden's controversial decision for Simpson to try on the infamous glove, and much more.
Out of the sensational frenzy of "the trial of the century" comes this haunting memoir of duty, justice, and the powerful undertow of American racism.
A stunning masterpiece told with brutal honesty and courage.

In contempt
Brilliant, searing . This is a wonderful insight into what it meant to prosecute THIS man at that time in America and in the face of abysmal race relations post the Rodney King debacle. I was aware of Chris Darden’s role in the O J trial before , after reading this book I was left with an even greater admiration for his ability to engage thoughtfully and honestly with unpleasant truths and with even more unpleasant lies, for his integrity and for his struggle to do the right thing in the face of so much criticism from all sides. Unlike Johnnie Cochran , this is a man striving for true justice with courage and integrity . I am quite sure people will tell his children “ Ah Darden; your father was a good man”
