Innocent Blood
I have read most of P. D. James’ books. I love the very descriptive way she wrote, but more than anything I enjoy the depth of her characters. Yes, there is a murder in this book, it’s mentioned often, but it’s not really relevant to the story which is so much more about the people. The story leads you along in a structured manner offering clues as you imagine the various possible conclusions, but when you get there it turns out to be so different. A very compelling read
