Publisher Description
An emotional tale of identity, sexuality and suicide derived from personal experience about three teenage boys who struggle to come to terms with their homosexuality in a small Western Australian town. On the surface, nerd Zeke, punk Charlie and footy wannabe Hammer look like they have nothing in common. But scratch that surface and you'd find three boys in the throes of coming to terms with their homosexuality in a town where it is invisible. Invisible Boys is a raw, confronting YA novel that explores the complexities and trauma of rural gay identity with painful honesty, devastating consequences and, ultimately, hope.
Customer Reviews
Exceptionally Written
This book takes you through a roller coaster of emotions, the rawness and realness of what many people may be going through is incredible well shown through all of these characters. This book is a must read and a great eye opener. I am in awe and wish the book continued cause i could read more and more of these boys stories.
Yes.
They should make this into a film, I could visualise every single bit of it. It’s the sort of story that needs to be seen. Loved every second. I bought it on iBooks because I’m on me holibobs in the U.K. and couldn’t wait to get back to Perth to buy it at Rabble, (which I will also do) but luckily I had a well timed bout of severe tonsillitis that had me bedridden and I leapt at the chance to devour the whole book in 2 sittings. Could not put it down.
Essential reading
Essential reading for everyone; not just young gay men, the LGBTIQ+ community, allies, or those who understand but especially for those who don’t understand.
