Publisher Description
A terrifying serial killer thriller staring Detective Robert Hunter - in the bestselling tradition of Jeffery Deaver and Richard Montanari
Inside a Los Angeles church, on the altar steps, lies the blood-soaked, decapitated body of a priest. Carefully positioned, legs stretched out, arms crossed over the chest, the most horrifying thing of all is that the priest's head has been replaced by that of a dog. Later, the forensic team discover that, on the victim's chest, the figure 3 has been scrawled in blood.
At first, Detective Robert Hunter believes that this is a ritualistic killing. But as more bodies surface, he is forced to reassess. All the victims died in the way they feared the most. Their worst nightmares have literally come true. But how could the killer have known? And what links these apparently random victims?
Hunter finds himself on the trail of an elusive and sadistic killer, somone who apparently has the power to read his victims' minds. Someone who can sense what scares his victims the most. Someone who will stop at nothing to achieve his twisted aim.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
They say fear is the oldest emotion, but author Chris Carter has found countless new ways to scare us in this shocking thriller. Los Angeles police detective Robert Hunter is tracking a serial killer with seemingly supernatural powers, capable of frightening his victims to death. We read late into the night (and rechecked the locks on our doors), wondering how the smart, resourceful Hunter would stop the string of increasingly more twisted and grisly murders.

Great read
Only recently discovered this author when I bought a paperback copy of his latest book and loved it. So I bought this book on iTunes as it was his previous release and I wasn't disappointed. I am a fan of his writing style - easy to read and very well crafted sentences and story lines. Well worth buying if you like thriller/murder mystery type books.
The Executioner
This is the first novel I have read by this author and I now look forward to more.
Great story line. Easy to read but continually interesting. I would have enjoyed more development of the main character - Robert Hunter - outside the work environment - enough information to enhance the characters personality but without being distracting from the overall story.
I recommend this book as a great read and I am looking forward to more stories by the same author with the same lead characters.
