Never has there been a more aggravating, blood-boiling and insufferable man.
But Catalina is desperate and as the wedding gets closer the more desirable an option Aaron Blackford becomes. . .

PUBLISHERS WEEKLY
Armas's debut sizzles with chemistry as two colleagues discover real attraction in their pretend romance. Engineer Catalina "Lina" Martín's ex, Daniel, is set to be the best man at her sister Isabel's wedding to his brother, Gonzalo, in their native Spain. Desperate to convince her family that she's over their difficult breakup, Lina invents a fictitious boyfriend to be her plus-one. When Aaron Blackford, a coworker at her New York firm, overhears her talking about this dilemma, he offers to play the role. Lina's confused, given their contentious working relationship, but with no other options, she accepts his proposal and agrees to return the favor by posing as his girlfriend at an upcoming charity event. The attraction between Lina and Aaron intensifies as they spend time together in New York and in Spain, and soon the affection they've been faking becomes all too real. The slow-burning romance heats up the pages as Armas's witty, intelligent protagonists reveal their innermost secrets and overcome their past misunderstandings. The Spanish setting and the zany antics of Lina's family only add to the fun. Rom-com fans will be riveted.

Worth it!
I have no real feasible reason as to why I hadn’t started this book long ago. It’s not like I hadn’t seen the good reviews, because I had. And maybe I was worried it was hyped up too much and I’d not see what everyone else did, because that happens more times than I’d care to admit. I also know my mood plays a big part of it too, I need to be in the right frame of mind for an office romance so here we are.
For a debut novel I think this was done very well. I liked the characters a lot and connected with them easily. Who doesn’t love a grumpy hero that when he falls, he’s all sweet and romantic! It’s my kryptonite! I also love books where there’s strong loyalty and big happy families. I did think that the middle of the book was repetitive in letting the reader know of Lina’s concerns and worries if this fake relationship became real. Other than that, I really enjoyed this novel and the way they solved their issues. The epilogue was fun although I wanted more and I’m hoping in the next novel, Lina’s bestie Rosie, that I get additional content on this couple. Only one way to find out…..
The Spanish Love Decepyion
Maybe I lost the comedic aspects of this story by not reading/speaking Spanish, but I found it tedious rather than humorous. The main female character is petulant and self-absorbed. The main male character is too good to be true, even if he is inarticulate.
Loved it!
I really enjoyed reading this book! Love the story, tension, humour and romantics. Very close to my heart all the Spanish dialogue mixed with English. Highly recommended!
