To everyone who knows him, West Ashby has always been that guy: the cocky, popular, too-handsome-for-his-own-good football god. But on the inside he's grief-stricken - his father is dying and he hasn't told anyone because he can't face the truth.
Now, as his pain grows unbearable, West finally decides he needs to talk to someone about his dad. So in the dark shadows of a party, he tells the one girl who doesn't speak everything he can't tell anyone else. West expected to feel relief, a flood of emotions - but what he didn't expect was for Maggie Carleton to reply. For her to reveal a pain even deeper than his own. And, for them to form a connection so strong that he couldn't ever let her go.

APPLE BOOKS REVIEW
Maggie Carleton is the new girl at Lawton High in Alabama. Traumatised after witnessing the murder of her mother, she hasn’t spoken a word since that haunting night. When she meets Lawton’s king of campus football, West Ashby, at a party, he tells her a dark secret. Maggie’s reply shocks them both. Until Friday Night is and absorbing story of unexpected friendship, grief and undoing the feeling that no-one hears you. Abbi Glines is a thought-provoking novelist who vividly captures the tension and confusion of high school and peer pressure. There’s more small-town drama to be found in the remainder of her gripping Field Party series.

Recommended read! Abbi Glines is always a great choice for a Sunday read or if you're in need of a get away within the comfort of your bed. Until Friday Night is a beautiful contemporary novel showing the reality of the world we live in and the impacts young teens face. Can't wait for Under the Lights and more from The Field Party series!
disappointing
I struggled to get through this book. The character development and backstory felt rushed, and although it was meant to be heartbreaking and sentimental, the clingy relationship overpowered the trauma faced by both characters. Would not recommend.
