It's impossible not to root for the heroine of this moody, gothic romance. Jane Eyre is a tenacious and independent woman striving to overcome the bleak circumstances of her childhood, which left her orphaned and unloved. Jane takes a job as governess in the household of Mr. Rochester, a hero as secretive as he is alluring. Both Mr. Rochester and the ghosts that seem to plague his house take an interest in Jane—and we held our breath as we watched her uncover the secrets surrounding her enigmatic employer.
