Publisher Description

This is the fourth Jack Irish thriller, and the third one in the series to win a Ned Kelly Award for Crime Fiction.

Jack Irish-gambler, cook and cabinetmaker, finder of people who don't want to be found-has a new job, hunting for evidence that might save the beautiful sculptor Sarah Longmore from a murder rap.

Jack soon discovers there was nothing straightforward about Mickey Franklin's death, and falls headlong into a world of shady deals, sexual secrets and country rednecks.

Peter Temple has worked extensively as a journalist and editor for newspapers and magazines in several countries. He has won five Ned Kelly Awards for his novels, and won the world’s most prestigious crime writing prize, the Duncan Lawrie Dagger. In 2010 he was awarded Australia’s greatest writing prize, the Miles Franklin Literary Award. His books are published in more than twenty countries.

True to form!

Once again Peter Temple has wrought magic. If you’re an aficionado of the Jack Irish series then you’ll love this one! Temple’s pithy humour and intelligent insights into inner Melbourne living is incredibly satisfying. Definitely deserves five stars!

Read it before no better 2nd time round

Too much smart talk too many characters and Jack the man comes over as a bit of a slob. Read it anyway Jack and Linda are entertaining at times.
