When Lynna Spiers impulsively runs away from her wedding, she soon realizes she should have made a plan. Arriving in Colorado penniless and starving, she doesn't expect to faint in the arms of a stranger.

Jasper Morrison has a plan. Now that his ranch is prosperous and he can support a family, he's ready to settle down and get married. He has the letter with the marriage proposal to a woman he's been corresponding with in his pocket, ready to mail. But when a woman he's never met faints in his arms and then begs him for help, he can't refuse.

Convinced her fiancé will come after her, Lynna needs a place to hide until she can earn enough money to go further west. 

As the days go by, Lynna becomes more attracted to Jasper, and she suspects he's developing feelings for her as well.

Lynna can't live with herself if she brings danger to Jasper's door. Jasper can't live with himself if he lets her go. 

But before they can make a plan together, her fiancé arrives – and he has revenge on his mind.
