Another great read

Once again I love this latest book by Mhairi. I would have liked a little more together time for the leads - I felt their coming together was a bit cut short and rushed at the end.

Trigger warning! Not light and funny

I was completely blindsided by this. I expected a light comedy and was absolutely devastated by the deep realistic grief and trauma caused by the sudden passing of a friend. Maybe my grief is still too raw but I really didn’t need the extreme descriptions of shock, grief and identifying a friends body. I couldn’t keep reading. I honestly believe this should come with a trigger warning and the description in no way prepares you for the devastating material. :(

Last Night

A story of friendship, secrets and family, beautifully written and compelling. Many plot elements are unexpected but, upon reflection, are consistent with characteristics of those involved. An outstanding read.
Note to author and editors: in chapter 26, dinner was ‘delivered under a silver cloche’. A tureen is a large lidded bowl for serving soup. Otherwise the editing was flawless.
